LATHOS 2009–ongoing. Creation of a self-sustaining artists’ residence in Crete
Eve Michelaki is an interdisciplinary artist
based in Greece
and working across sculpture, installation, environmental art, and printmaking.
Her artistic practice explores the intersections of art, technology, and society, drawing inspiration from scientific research and its impact on human life and the environment. Her work is deeply informed by an understanding of art history, particularly the rich tapestry of Greek culture, providing crucial insights into contemporary issues and conflicts. She holds a medical degree from the University of Patras, a BA(Hons) in Fine Arts from Sheffield Hallam University, and an MA(Open) in Art History.
In 2009, she co-founded the art group LATHOS with Christos Christodoulopoulos. LATHOS collaborates with people from other disciplines, investigating the areas where art can engage with social and environmental issues. Their ongoing project involves the design and construction of a self-sustaining, open-source residence/art center in Crete. This innovative work serves as a living laboratory for sustainable living, demonstrating how artistic principles can inform and enhance ecological design. It has been featured on television, and other media, and presented at TEDx and in scientific publications.
